Population
Population of Ethiopia by region and chartered city, from the 2007 Population and Housing Census, the most recent national census.
The 2007 Population and Housing Census, conducted by the Central Statistical Agency, counted 73.9 million people in Ethiopia. It remains the most recent completed national census; a fourth census has been postponed several times since 2017, so these figures are still the official baseline. Oromia and Amhara are the most populous regions, together accounting for roughly six in ten Ethiopians, while Harari and Gambella are the smallest.
